Teenager Hit by Passing Car Seeks Compensation
A teenage schoolgirl who suffered serious personal injury, after being struck by a car as she walked along the side of a road, is seeking damages from the motorist responsible.
The Northampton Chronicle and Echo is reporting that sixteen year old Bethany Probert, who was just thirteen at the time of the accident, was walking alongside Abthorpe Road, close to her home in Silverstone, when she was struck by a Saab being driven by Paul Moore, of Wappenham, near Towcester.
The teenager suffered multiple injuries in the accident, including a broken collarbone, damage to her lungs and serious head injuries, which have left her with long term disabilities.
With the assistance of her family Bethany has now launched a claim for road traffic accident compensation against Mr. Moore, claiming that he was negligent by driving too fast for the conditions and not spotting the teenager before it was too late.
However Mr. Moore’s insurers are arguing that the motorist was not at fault, as he could not have been expected to see the teenager in the dark conditions, as she was not wearing any reflective safety clothing.
The hearing which is being held at the High Court is currently ongoing.
