Gym Pays Compensation after Exercise Bike Accident
A gym has had to pay compensation after one of its customers was injured in an accident on an exercise bike.
The North Devon Journal reports that the accident happened whilst a woman was using the piece of fitness equipment. Charlotte Brown was a member of the Fitness Factory gym in Barnstaple, Devon, when the accident happened in July last year.
Ms Brown had gone to the gym to exercise in a spin-cycle class. A spinning cycle class is a group exercise activity where people cycle on exercise bikes together, accompanied by music and an instructor.
During this class however, one of the pedals broke on Ms Brown’s bike. This sudden break caused her to fall from her bike, and she suffered injury. Her finger was broken in the fall, an injury that is reported to have affected her work and social life.
Astonishingly, the incident was not the first time Ms Brown had been injured on the bike at the gym. A different fault on the bike caused her to suffer bruising in an accident some months earlier.
The exact amount of compensation Ms Brown has just been awarded in the gym accident claim has not been reported.
